The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has seen many big-hitting performances over the years. Now, a new name sits at the top of the fastest-hundreds list. Dasun Shanaka has set a new record for the fastest century in CPL history. He reached his hundred in only 39 balls on September 3, 2026.

Shanaka made the record while playing for the Patriots against the Kings. He broke the earlier record of 40 balls. Andre Russell, Tim Seifert and Shimron Hetmyer had all reached a century in 40 balls.

The list has many big names from T20 cricket. It includes Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Shai Hope and Kieron Pollard. Here is a look at the top 10 fastest centuries in CPL history.

These numbers show how quickly batters have scored centuries in the CPL fastest century record list. Shanaka is now the only player to score a CPL hundred in less than 40 balls.

1. Dasun Shanaka – 39 balls

Dasun Shanaka has made CPL history with the fastest hundred in CPL history.

He reached his century in just 39 balls against the Kings on September 3, 2026. The Sri Lankan all-rounder hit the ball cleanly and scored very quickly.

With this innings, Shanaka became the first batter in CPL history to score a hundred in fewer than 40 balls.

2. Andre Russell – 40 balls

Andre Russell is one of the biggest hitters in T20 cricket. He has also produced some amazing performances in the CPL.

Russell scored a 40-ball century for the Tallawahs against Trinbago on August 10, 2018.

His century was the fastest in CPL history at that time. He later shared the record with Tim Seifert and Shimron Hetmyer.

Russell also appears twice in the top 10. This shows how often he has produced big-hitting performances in the CPL.

3. Tim Seifert – 40 balls

New Zealand batter Tim Seifert also scored a century in 40 balls.

He achieved the feat for the Kings against the Falcons on August 31, 2025.

Seifert played an attacking innings and scored runs very quickly. His century helped him join the exclusive list of batters with 40-ball hundreds in the CPL.

4. Shimron Hetmyer – 40 balls

Shimron Hetmyer also reached a century in 40 balls.

He achieved the feat against Trinbago on August 31, 2026.

The West Indian left-hander is known for his attacking batting. He can score runs quickly when he gets settled at the crease.

Hetmyer also has another century on this list. He scored that hundred in 47 balls in 2018.

5. Shai Hope – 41 balls

Shai Hope sits fifth on the list with a 41-ball century.

He scored the hundred for the Amazon Warriors against the Royals on September 17, 2023.

Hope usually plays a controlled style of batting. However, this innings showed that he can also score very quickly in T20 cricket.

His 41-ball century remains one of the fastest hundreds in CPL history.

6. Andre Russell – 42 balls

Russell appears on the list for the second time at No. 6.

He scored a 42-ball century for the Tallawahs against the Red Steel on August 5, 2016.

Andre Russell later went even faster. He scored his 40-ball century in 2018.

Having two CPL centuries in 42 balls or fewer shows just how dangerous Russell can be with the bat.

7. Nicholas Pooran – 45 balls

Nicholas Pooran also features among the fastest CPL centuries.

Pooran scored a 45-ball hundred for the Amazon Warriors against the Patriots on August 30, 2020.

The West Indian batter is known for his powerful hitting. He can clear the boundary regularly and score runs at a very fast rate.

His 45-ball century remains one of the quickest hundreds in CPL history.

8. Rahkeem Cornwall – 45 balls

Rahkeem Cornwall also scored a CPL century in 45 balls.

He reached the milestone for the Royals against the Patriots on September 3, 2023.

Cornwall used his power to hit the ball over the boundary. Once he found his rhythm, the bowlers struggled to stop him.

His 45-ball hundred puts him level with Pooran on the list.

9. Shimron Hetmyer – 47 balls

Hetmyer had already scored a fast CPL century before his 40-ball effort in 2026.

He scored a 47-ball hundred for the Amazon Warriors against the Tallawahs on August 18, 2018.

His second entry on the list shows how well he has performed with the bat in the CPL.

10. Alex Hales – 47 balls

Alex Hales completes the top 10.

The English opener scored a 47-ball century for the Tallawahs against the Kings on September 17, 2023.

Hales is known for his attacking style. He has also been a successful T20 opener around the world.

His 47-ball century remains one of the fastest hundreds in CPL history.

The Record Has a New Owner

The CPL fastest century record now belongs to Dasun Shanaka.

His 39-ball century is only one ball faster than the previous 40-ball record. But that one ball has given Shanaka the top spot.

The list also shows the quality of batters who have scored very fast hundreds in the CPL. Russell, Seifert and Hetmyer have all scored 40-ball centuries.

Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, Rahkeem Cornwall and Alex Hales have also made the list.

The Caribbean Premier League continues to attract some of the biggest T20 hitters in the world. More fast centuries could come in the future.

For now, however, Shanaka has his name at the top of the fastest hundreds in CPL history list.
