IPL 2025 Team Standings: All Teams Analysis

IPL 2025 Team Standings/ IPL 2025 Points Table– We are almost into the halfway stage of the IPL 2025 with all teams having played 6+ games, as of now. Some teams are looking in good touch, and some are still finding it hard to win games consistently. Today, we will analyze IPL 2025 team standings. We will see all the teams’ strengths and where they are lacking. So let’s start.

IPL 2025 Team Standings: Where it stands

Delhi Capitals (DC)

DC is looking a balanced side in the IPL 2025 team standings at the moment. They started well with four back-to-back wins. The team lost a close game against the Mumbai Indians (MI), but won the next game against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a Super Over. As of now (April 18, 2025), DC is at No. 1 in the IPL 2025 points table.

As far as their strength, their middle order is looking good with KL Rahul, Axar Patel, and Tristan Stubbs doing well. In the bowling front, Starc and Mohit are doing well, and they have one experienced and one youngster in Kuldeep and Vipraj as spinners for the middle overs. Coming to their weakness, they need their openers to do well. Also, if Starc has an off day, they lack an out-and-out pacer with the new ball.

Gujarat Titans (GT)

GT will look for a redemption from last year. The franchise won the title in 2022 and played the final in 2023. But the 2024 season was not up to their standard. As of now, GT has won four games out of six and is at No. 2 in the IPL 2025 team standings.

GT will be happy with their top 3 doing well. They have Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler as the top 3. In bowling, Mohammad Siraj is looking in good touch, and R Sai Kishore is going for wickets in the middle overs with his left-arm spin.

A slight weakness in GT is the form of Rashid Khan. The Afghan spinner has not been in great touch since the last few seasons. Also, they don’t have a reputed death over specialist in bowling.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

Will that be RCB’s year? Time will tell. But as of now, they have played some really good cricket. As a unit, they have done well to win four games out of six. But, they are too dependent on Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar in batting.

With the ball, the new ball bowlers are doing their job. But, they lacked proper wrist spinners with a reputation of taking wickets in the middle overs.

Punjab Kings (PBKS)

This Punjab is a new look side with a new captain and a new coach. As of now, they have shown character in different match situations. Like, they have put a big total on the board, and also defended the lowest total in the IPL (as of now) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Their bowling is their strength, with all the bases covered. They have two big left-arm pacers in Arshdeep and Jansen. The team also has Yuzvendra Chahal, who has loads of experience. Their weakness is that they relied too much on Shreyas Iyer while batting at the moment.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

LSG did well to be at No. 5 in the IPL 2023 team standings with four wins in seven games. But, they need their captain Rishabh Pant to fire with the bat consistently. Also, Pant’s decision of not giving an over to Ravi Bishnoi in CSK’s match questioned his captaincy decision.

LSG also lacked good death bowlers. Coming to their strength, Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh are doing well, and the two South Africans, Aiden Markram and David Miller, are in decent touch as well.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

KKR’s team balance on paper is looking good, but the execution is not up to the mark at the moment. Their openers are inconsistent, and the middle order has not been firing.

As far as their strength, Captain Ajinkya Rahane is leading from the front with the bat. KKR’s another positive is their spin department, with Narine and Chakravarthy are hard to get away by the opposition batters.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

MI has a reputation of slow-starters, but not every time can you come back from behind. We can’t say MI is playing good or bad in IPL 2025, but they have played decent enough to be in the race. They have won three games out of seven.

MI’s strength lies in their new ball bowling, with Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, and Jasprit Bumrah in the mix. Their batting is also misfiring with some reputed names in the squad.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

RR’s balance, their execution, and their plans are not coming off at the moment. They have only won two games out of seven. The batting has been the biggest letdown, as it was their biggest strength till the last season.

Even in bowling, you can see that Archer is not as good as he used to in the past. They need their two Sri Lankan spinners, Wanindu Hasaranga and M Theekshana, to take wickets in the middle overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

SRH is the team on which the fans were setting a lot of expectations. They played a different brand of cricket last season. The team has even started the IPL 2025 campaign in the same fashion, but has fallen. SRH are at No. 9 in the IPL 2025 team standings, with only two wins in seven games.

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma came in with a reputation, but only the latter has made the opportunity count. The batting hasn’t performed as per their reputation. With the ball, they need a wicket-taking spinner in the middle overs and an out-and-out in-form pacer for the death overs.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

CSK’s IPL 2025 campaign is disturbed after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s elbow injury. Even with Ruturaj in the team, CSK’s weaknesses were there to see for everyone. Their batting does not have that firepower and killer instinct. And with pitches at their home ground, it hampers their batters’ shot-making.

MS Dhoni becomes CSK’s captain again, but he has not been utilized with the bat fully. In bowling, they have a lot of expectations from their spin trio of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Noor Ahmed. But, Noor Ahmed is their only positive with the other two bowlers not having a huge impact with the ball.

CONCLUSION

At the moment, DC, PBKS, and GT are looking good. RCB, KKR, and LSG have some flaws, but they are good as far as the IPL 2025 points table. MI is one of the teams that knows how to come from behind. The rest others are not looking good. CSK, SRH, and RR don’t look good at the moment for the top four.

Let’s see how things panned out. The analysis is based on our understanding and the current form of all the teams. There is an old saying that ‘you have to peak at the right time’. We have seen so many examples of that over the years. Any team can do well if they click at the right moment. But as of now, this is the IPL 2025 team standings.
