IND W vs AUS W 3rd ODI Highlights Summary
Australia’s Batting Unit Fires in Decider
Australia started off well as both openers, Alyssa Healy and Georgia Voll, gave a flying start to the team. Healy scored 30 runs off just 18 balls, and Voll continues to play her shots. Ellyse Perry joined Voll at the crease, and the pair laid the foundation for the rest of the batters. The pair added 107 runs for 2nd wicket, before Sneh Rana got Voll in the 22nd over of the inning. Beth Monney came to the crease with an intent. She was ultra-aggressive right from ball one. Peery and Mooney added another hundred-run partnership in real quick time.
Mooney continues to hold one end, and Ashleigh Gardner joined her at the crease. Gardner also played an important quick-fire cameo of 39 runs off just 24 balls. Mooney completed her 100 in the 38th over, off just 57 balls. She became one of the fastest centurions in Women’s ODI Cricket. Her innings comes to an end with a run out in the 45th over. But before she got out, too much damage was already done to India. She scored 138 runs off just 75 balls. Australia scored 412 in the first inning of the 3rd ODI. India Women Tried Hard, but Fell Short
India Women, in reply, have also started off well in a run chase. Although they lost 2 wickets in the powerplay, they were going at 10 runs per over at one stage. Smriti Mandhana continues to attack the opposition bowlers, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur joined her at the crease. The counter-attack from these two puts Australian women under pressure at one stage. India were 206 for 2 in just 20 overs.
Smriti Mandhana completed her 100 in just 50 balls, becoming the 2nd fastest centurion in Women’s ODI cricket. Harmanpreet also scored 52 runs off just 35 balls, and along with Smriti, she added 121 runs for the 3rd wicket in just 11.2 overs.
Kim Garth broke the partnership by taking Harmanpreet on the first ball of the 21st over. Deepti Sharma came to the crease, but India started to lose wickets at regular intervals after the Smriti-Harmanpreet partnership. From 206/2 to 289/7, the Aussie bowlers dented India’s run chase in the middle overs.
Deepti was still there, and Sneh Rana supported her, and the pair added 65 runs for the 8th wicket. At one stage, a win looks likely for India. It looks like there will be a record run chase on the cards. But Tahlia McGrath got Deepti out in the 43rd over, and that was the game for Australia. India were all out for 369, fell 43 runs short of Australia’s target. It was a great effort from the Indian Women, but they couldn’t cross the line.
