Early Life and Cricket
Before transforming, she played age-group cricket as a boy. She loves to play cricket. But, due to the rules set by the ICC (International Cricket Council), she cannot pursue cricket as a trans-women. The ICC won’t allow trans-women to feature in international cricket.
Also, now after transforming, she cannot play domestic cricket in India as the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) does not have any specific rules for trans-women to play cricket at the domestic level. She even appealed to the rule-makers to make separate rules and don’t bound in between the gender and the passion. Although there are rules in place in Australia for transgender people to play cricket domestically, the BCCI and ECB (England Cricket Board) do not have these rules.
In Australia, a transgender person is allowed to play cricket at the domestic level if, 12 months before nominating, they have a testosterone level of less than 10 nanograms per decilitre.
What Does Anaya Do For a Living?
As per her LinkedIn profile, she worked as a Graphic Design Consultant at Godrej Properties Limited. Before that, she was a Hospitality Associate for six months. She also worked as a Graphic Designer, Social Media Manager, UI Designer, and more.
She also played professional cricket in Mumbai for almost five and a half years. That time, she was known as Aryan Bangar and played cricket in the boys category.
Does Anaya Transform to Play Better in Women’s Cricket?
Some of the cricket fans questioned her decision to transform from male to female to perform better in women’s cricket. But Anaya Bangar has clarified that it was not the case. Through her Instagram, she clearly stated that performing better in women’s cricket was the reason for her transformation.

During an interview with The Lallantop, Anaya Bangar talked about the struggles she faced during her cricketing phase. She said her teammates abuse him (because she played cricket before the transformation) in front of their other teammates. She also said her fellow cricketers send him nude photos randomly.
Also, she alleged that when she came out and talked about her situation to a reputed former cricketer, a cricketer asked him to go in her car and wanted to sleep with her. She did not take the name of that cricketer.
Anaya Bangar on Knowing Her Gender Identity
In an interview with Lallantop, when asked about when she got to realise her gender identity, Anaya said she picked up her mother’s clothes and wore them in front of the mirror and said ‘I am a girl’. She said it was a time when she was around 8-9 years old.

Anaya revealed that during her cricketing days, she played with some of the well-known cricketers like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, etc. A few days back, she shared a collaboration post with her old friend, Sarfaraz Khan, and Musheer Khan. In the post, she shared two pictures (one from the playing days) and a short video playing with a child.
