As of 2025, a former Swiss professional tennis player, Roger Federer, has the most Wimbledon Men’s Singles titles. He has won 8 titles in the tournament, with the first in 2003 and the last in 2017. Wimbledon Men’s Singles Champions (Year-by-Year)

Spencer Gore won the first-ever Wimbledon Men’s Singles Championship in 1877. He defeated his countryman William Marshall in the final by 6-1, 6-2, and 6-4. The year 1905 marked the first time a non-GBR-based player reached the final of the Wimbledon Men’s Singles. Australia’s Norman Brookes played the final against Great Britain’s (GBR) Laurence Doherty. He lost the final by 8-6, 6-2, and 6-4. Norman Brookes went on to win the title in the 1907 edition, defeating GBR’s Arthur Gore in the final. He became the first non-GBR-based player to win the Wimbledon Men’s Singles title.
