The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has announced the Team India Annual Contract 2024-25 on April 21, 2025. They announced the news on their official website, bcci.tv. A total of 34 players have been contracted in a BCCI Annual Contract. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are back in the Team India Annual Contract List after missing out last year because of missing the domestic games. Grade A+ is the highest rank in the BCCI Annual Contract, and Grade C is the minimum rank. This contract applies from October 01, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

The BCCI, which controls all the cricket operations in India, has announced the Team India Annual Contract 2024-25 for the Senior Men’s Team. They announced the update via their official website (bcci.tv) on April 21, 2025. This annual contract is also known as ‘annual player retainership’ by the BCCI.

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan Back in Team India Annual Contract 2024-25

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan missed out on a Team India Annual Contract last time. The BCCI did not give them a contract because they missed a few domestic games, as mandated by the board. Although there are a few more players who did not feature in domestic games, only these two have to pay the price. Now, both players are back in the Team India Annual Contract 2024-25.

Shreyas Iyer found himself in a Grade B category while Ishan Kishan features in a Grade C category.

How Many Categories Are There in The Annual Contract?

There are a total of four categories in the Team India Annual Contract 2024-25. Those categories are Grade A+, A, B, and C. A total of four players feature in the A+ category, 6 in the A category, 5 in the B category, and 19 in the C category (most).

Rishabh Pant Back in A Category

Rishabh Pant, a prolific wicketkeeper batter, has found a place in the A category again. He missed out on an A category and featured in the B category because he missed most of his cricket in the past 1.5 years due to a car accident. But now, he is back in the A category list of the BCCI Annual Contract.

Varun Chakravarthy has been phenomenal in the last year or so. He has played for India before as well in 2021, but has not had a major impact at that time. But he again proved his worth in the IPL, and then in the national side. He went on to play the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which Team India won. He played a huge role in the playing XI.

The mystery spinner is listed in a C category list in the Team India Annual Contract 2024-25.

Who Are Those Four Players in an A+ Category?

There is no change in the A+ category list from the last time. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja have found themselves in an A+ category list of the BCCI Annual Contract 2024-25.

What About The A and B categories?

There is only one change in the A category from the last time. R Ashwin has announced his international retirement during the mid-way of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. He used to be in the A category. But now, after his retirement, Rishabh Pant will be there.

The rest are the same as the last time. KL Rahul, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Shami, Hardik Pandya, and Shubman Gill are the other five players in the A category.

As far as the B category, Shreyas Iyer is the only addition in place of  Rishabh Pant, who found himself in the A category this year. The rest five: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel are the same as last time.

There are quite a few changes in the C category. From the last time, Shardul Thakur, Jitesh Sharma, KS Bharat, and Avesh Khan missed out on a contract. Players like Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Akash Deep, Varun Chakravarthy, and Harshit Rana have been added to the C category of the Team India Annual Contract 2024-25.
